World’s fastest Gaming Laptop: The Asus ROG Strix Scar 17 X3D

The Asus ROG Strix Scar 17, one of the best gaming laptop brands proclaimed to be the fastest gaming laptop in the world, is this. The AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX3D 16-core processor is loaded with it. It has AMD’s unique 3D V-cache technology, which improves performance over the conventional 7945HX processor by at least 15%. When comparing the ROG Strix Scar 17 X3D to the non-X3D model, the only differences are the upgraded processor and extra Ryzen AI functions.

The performance, gaming, and AI features supported by this laptop will be my primary areas of focus, as the AMD processor is the main player here.

We want to make it clear before I start that you should buy the ROG Strix Scar 17 X3D abroad because it is not available in India.

Appearance and Functionality

Asus ROG Strix Scar 17 X3D

The Asus ROG Strix Scar 17 X3D bears a striking resemblance to the basic model. With a matte finish, the ROG logo, and a strip on the lid, it offers a discrete appearance. The laptop’s sturdy chassis is made of a combination of plastic and aluminium. It weighs three kilograms and is about one inch thick. Indeed, just like the majority of gaming laptops with large screens, this laptop is large and heavy. The lid is slightly flexed, but not in a worrying way.

The RGB Aura Sync bar is located on the front, and a sizable 17-inch display with thin bezels and an anti-glare coating is visible when you open the lid. It has a webcam on top, and two sturdy hinges hold the display and bottom together. Its rear features the ROG Armour cap, which is not replaceable this time and sticks out a touch.

Features

With the exception of the updated chipset, the majority of the ROG Strix Scar 17 X3D’s specifications are the same as those of the non-X3D model. The AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX3D processor, which has 16 cores and 32 threads, 144 MB of total cache, 55W+ TDP, and a maximum boost speed of 5.4 GHz, is included with this model. It is predicated on the architecture of Zen 4. Utilizing AMD’s unique 3D V-cache technology, the chipset offers nearly double the L3 cache (128 MB) as the base Ryzen 9 7945HX CPU. AMD even states that the new chipset can outperform the original by up to 15%.

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 mobile GPU, which has 16GB of VRAM and a maximum TDP of 175 W with dynamic boost, is partnered with the CPU. Additionally, you get up to 32GB of DDR5 RAM that can be expanded to 64 Gigabytes. Moreover, up to 2TB of storage is included. The laptop has Bluetooth 5.3 and Wi-Fi 6E for connectivity. Asus included a 330W AC adapter in the box along with a 90-watt battery in the laptop.

A stunning 17.3-inch IPS anti-glare display with a refresh rate of up to 240 Hz and WQHD (2560 x 1440) resolution is also included. The panel has 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage and supports Dolby Vision HDR. Additionally, there is a two-speaker configuration that supports Dolby Atmos and has headphones certified as Hi-res.

Software and Performance

Asus has incorporated their Armoury Crate software to increase the performance of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 GPU and the AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX3D chipset. Using this tool, you can manually adjust the clock speeds or choose from various accessible settings.

We ran a few fictitious benchmarks to gauge the laptop’s performance. The results showed that this is among the finest gaming laptops available. The GPU was set to Ultimate, and the benchmarks were done in Turbo mode. The laptop achieved a multi-core score of 16,471 and a single-core score of 2,770 in Geekbench 6.3. The benchmarking tool’s GPU tests yielded a score of 2,00,864 points.

We then used Cinebench R23 to evaluate CPU performance. For a mobile CPU, the laptop’s multi-core test score of 28,599 points is quite good. The AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2990WX, a desktop processor with a 250W TDP, received 30,054 points in contrast. The laptop scored 1919 points on the single-core test. That’s another excellent score—absolutely at the top.

In conclusion, the AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX3D is now the greatest laptop processor, at least in terms of multi-core performance, based on my own benchmark results and those from other tests.

Aside from its exceptional CPU and GPU performance, the ROG Strix Scar 17 X3D can also handle a wide range of AI-related activities. You may use 25+ picture and video editing techniques from Topaz Labs, more than 50 Adobe tools, Microsoft Studio Effects, and more than 20 Davinci capabilities for manipulating audio and video. Not only that, but programs like AVID, Zoom, Boris FX, Audacity, Bytedance, CyberLink, Luminar, Blender, and Arkruner provide more than fifty functionalities.

Gaming

World fastest Gaming Laptop

It’s crazy to play games on the ROG Strix Scar 17 X3D. High-profile games operate flawlessly even when the laptop is running on battery power. WQHD+ resolution gaming is possible with good frame rates. With Ultra graphics settings, we played GTA 5 at maximum resolution, and I averaged more than 100 frames per second. The game had no lag at all and had a striking visual. This laptop can run practically any high-profile game at maximum settings and still deliver fantastic frame rates.

The laptop’s cooling system is another amazing feature. The keyboard never became hot enough to stop me from playing during extended game sessions. The machine has outstanding cooling.

Speakers, Webcam, Keyboard, and Battery Life

We weren’t prepared for this top-tier gaming laptop comparison to last so long on a charge. That’s not meant to be used with these laptops. When using the ROG Strix Scar 17 X3D typically, that is, watching a few YouTube videos and utilizing many tabs in Chrome, it held silent for almost two hours. This number decreases to approximately 45 to an hour when using the laptop for gaming in Performance mode.

The laptop computer features a full-size chiclet keyboard with RGB customization for each key and 2 mm of travel. It’s a fantastic keyboard, and we loved how comfortable it was to use for both typing and gaming.

Again, a gaming laptop is probably going to have a poor webcam. It is a 720p sensor that does a fair job in well-lit areas but not so well in low light. Though I don’t think anyone uses a webcam on a gaming laptop, it’s not a deal killer.

The integrated speakers are also nothing to be proud of. The two speakers don’t have a lot of volume, but they do have some bass and sound separation.

I’m not being prejudiced when I say that the AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX3D is the most excellent gaming processor out there at the moment. To make matters even more unique, the Asus ROG Strix Scar 17 X3D is the only laptop that is now available with the chipset. This laptop is capable of doing heavy lifting, whether it be for creative work or gaming. Consequently, the decision is simple. You ought to get it if you have the funds and it’s available where you live. It’s unlike anything else! For more interesting laptop reviews and blogs, visit Gadgets.
